Gilbert Arenas' 'Make It, Take It' Playoff Rule Is So Batshit Crazy, That It Might Be The Perfect Idea For The NBA
Let's be very clear. This will never happen. By this I mean the link there. Basically Arenas wants to install a make-it, take-it home court rule for the playoffs. You play at home until you lose. No 2 games splits or anything like that. Better seed starts the series at home still. But if you lose game 1 at home, game 2 now moves to the other team.
Pretty simple why it won't work. You know, money, schedule, things of that nature. But let's not take away from thinking outside the box here. I love this idea. It's batshit crazy. It's so damn out there, I just love it more I think about it. I mean you lose a home game, who cares about seed. You gotta get your ass on the plane and get to the other city. Once you win you get to come back home.
The NBA is already doing everything that doesn't make sense. A middle of the season Tournament yet not shortening the regular season. Sure! Let's do that. The play-in tournament is a success, no doubt about it. Entertaining games. But this? This is the sort of thinking that gets Gilbert to Adam Silver's office and not just because of something that may or may not have happened in a locker room.
Now while I'm all for new ideas, keep the Elam Ending the fuck away from the NBA and college basketball. Great for an All-Star Game, I'm sick of people advocating it for real games. No thank you.
